What standard are we working to?

We hold this site to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is the benchmark most public bodies and courts point to, and it covers the things that actually stop people: contrast that is too faint to read, controls you cannot reach with a keyboard, images with no description, and forms whose fields mean nothing to a screen reader.

Meeting a standard is not the same as being finished. Guidelines change, we add pages, and some things only surface when a real person hits them. So we treat this as maintenance, not a certificate.

What have we actually done to the site?

We audit every page with axe-core, an automated testing engine, against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rule sets, and we fix what it reports.

Specific changes on this site include a "Skip to Main Content" link as the first thing a keyboard user reaches, a visible focus outline so you can always see where you are, proper landmark regions so a screen reader can jump between the header, the main content and the footer, text labels on every social and icon-only link, labels bound to every form field rather than placeholder text that vanishes when you type, tap targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels, and titles on the embedded maps so they are announced rather than skipped.

Automated testing catches a good share of problems but not all of them. Judgment calls, such as whether alt text is genuinely useful or whether a reading order makes sense, still need a person. We review those by hand as pages change.

What about content we do not control?

Some parts of this site are supplied by other companies. Our online booking runs through MoeGo, our social feed comes from Juicer, the maps come from Google, and the spam check on our forms is Google reCAPTCHA. We chose these tools and we are happy to be told when one of them gets in your way, but we cannot change their code ourselves.

If a third-party tool is blocking you, contact us and we will help you complete whatever you were trying to do, by phone or email, and we will raise the problem with the provider.

How do you report a problem or get help?

Tell us. If any part of this website is hard to use, we want to hear about it, and you do not need to know the technical term for what went wrong. A sentence describing the page and what happened is plenty.

Call (614) 914-4468 or email columbus@emipet.com. Please tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within two business days, and if a fix will take longer than that, we will say so and give you another way to get what you needed in the meantime.

We can also take your booking details over the phone and set the appointment up for you, so an obstacle on the website never means you cannot get your dog groomed.
